The Boys Are Back

I'm back home again. I was supposed to be in Magrath this week, but Ty was just so happy to see John again that I just couldn't bring myself to seperate them again so quickly, so the boys and I came back home with John. The baptism and blessing were good. I'm really glad I was able to be there. Caleb was convinced that he needed to get baptized that day too. I told him that he has to wait 4 1/2 more years and he said "no, 15 minutes". He was very upset when we left the chapel without him being baptized.

The boys and I had a good day together yesterday. We watched a few episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, blew some bubbles and played with toys.

This morning John reminded me that in 2 months Ty will be a toddler. I will no longer have a baby and barring some miracle, will never have one again. Kind of tough, but I'm getting through it very well, all things considered. It was a very tough decision to make, but I feel in my heart like it was the right one.

We're still planning on going to Wainwright next week. My mum is taking us to the pool, so Caleb is REALLY looking forward to that. I'm kind of worried about Ty and the dog food, but oh well. It will be good for the boys to see my mum and Bob again, they haven't seen them for quite a while.

So things are still going good here, HORRAY! Hope you're all having a wonderful week:)

Almost a Week!

Well, we've had almost a whole week of nice normal days. It's been so great! I think we've finally found the right thing. I've been missing Caleb, especially, a lot and have been talking to him on the phone every day. We often find ourselves saying things that we know Caleb would say because we miss having him here to say it. So happy that I'll be there in just a few more days. My niece, Alora, is getting baptized this weekend as well as my brand new nephew, William Oscar Wilde, getting blessed. So I guess we picked the right weekend to go and have me meet up with the boys. Then I will spend a week in Magrath with them, and then a week in Wainwright with them before we come back home. So they will have spent 5 weeks away from home by the time this is all done. They seem to be in good spirits now that they are healthy again, though. Caleb had tonsilitis so bad that his tonsils were touching in the middle. Ty had an ear infection and a bit of a wheeze. Poor Grandma hadn't been getting much sleep until they got some medicine. Caleb is always telling me that he wants to go to Paul's house. Paul is his cousin who lives next door to John's parents. Well, not too much else is new for now, just wanted to share the news that things are going well and I'm very much looking forward to being with my boys again.

125

This is post 125! Horray! I've got a bigger horray, though. I had a great day yesterday:) Nothing special happened, I just was able to control my emotions all day long, even during my evening of giggly girls. It was such a wonderful feeling.

Last night in Activity Days we had a lesson about the First Vision. It has made me think of the scripture from D&C 135:3 where John Taylor says "Joseph Smith, the prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it." I want to add my testimony to his that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet who was called of God to restore the fullness of the gospel to the earth. How grateful I am for a 14 year old boy who thought to ask of God what he should do. His faith has blessed my life more than I can put into words.

Tired, but Okay

We had an okay weekend here. Friday night we went to the temple and did initiatory work. It's my favourite work to do in the temple. We did both family and temple file names.

On Saturday, I had a massage since I've been so tense lately. Our health plan with John's work covers 80% of massages, so that's really nice. That evening we went out to dinner with my mum at The Keg Steakhouse. It was good, but I'm not the kind of person that likes to go out for a steak. We just went there because Mum had a gift card. I tried creme brulee for the first time. I like the custard, but I'm not a big fan of the crusty top, I guess. John felt the same way. It was nice to get out and see Mum though, that's the main thing.

Church went okay yesterday. The class I'm assisting with is a difficult class to work with, but it will get easier with time, I hope. Not too much else is new, just really missing my boys. John's mom called last night and Caleb had woken up crying and I just felt so awful having to listen to him cry and not being able to do anything about it because I'm 6 hours away.

Hopefully this new plan we're working on will be the one. If not, I'm going to force myself to get through it anyways. I just can't handle watching my illness tear my family apart anymore. Well, that's about all for now. Hope you all had a great weekend.

His Plan

“It is clear that for us to have [God’s] gift [of eternal life] and to be given [the] trust [of our Heavenly Father], we must be transformed through making righteous choices where that is hard to do. We are prepared for so great a trust by passing through trying and testing experiences in mortality. That education can come only as we are subject to trials while serving God and others for Him.”

Henry B. Eyring, “Adversity,” Ensign, May 2009, 24

Just something to think about. Sometimes for me, it's so hard to remember why I'm enduring the things that I am, but we need to remember that it's part of our Father's plan for us and that ultimately, it WILL be worth it. Love you all:) Hope you have a great weekend!

RHS & Missionaries

The past few days I've had a throat infection, which hasn't been a lot of fun. It's getting better, though. Right now I am working on making a blog for my Red Hat Society group. Well, it's actually my mum's group, I'm just the member who lives 2 hours away and never makes it to anything, ha ha. It's giving me something to do, though, so that's nice. It makes me wish that I had something like that here, other than enrichment, I mean. I kind of lost pretty much all of my friends to other wards or to inactivity from the church. Thank you for staying with me, Amber!!! It's been pretty tough going through all of this with not much of a social group, I guess. If I thought anyone would actually do the Red Hat thing up here, I would TOTALLY do that. It would be nice to hang out once a month and do fun stuff and dress up in things that can look tame and pretty much normal or look totally ridiculous, whatever you're in the mood for. I really need an actual social life.

Anyways, working on being grateful for the things that I have right now. Kind of hard to remember in the moment, but I'm definately working on it.

So...Today was missionary Sunday. I didn't stay for the talks, I was falling over on John I was feeling so sick, so we left as soon as we took the sacrament. However, I just wanted to express my gratitude for missionary work. Without it, I would be a very different person. I wouldn't have the husband that I do, or the kids that I do. I wouldn't have the strength I've gained from the gospel. I am so grateful for two wonderful young men who took 2 years out of their lives to come and help people like me discover the amazingness of the gospel.

Bad News

The boys are heading back down to Magrath again. I really wish that we could find a treatment that works for me and that the boys would be able to stay here. At the same time though, I'm so grateful that we have people who are able to help us out when we need it. Keep us in your prayers, please.
